John Scott

John Scott was appointed as a non-executive director of the company on 12 June 2013 and as the Chair on 29 November 2022. He is a former Investment banker who spent 20 years with Lazard and is currently a director of several investment trusts. Mr. Scott has been Chair of Impax Environmental Markets plc since May 2014 and Chair of Alpha Insurance Analysts since April 2013. In 2019, he was appointed Chair of JP Morgan Global Core Real Assets. In June 2017, he retired as Chair of Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC. He has an MA in Economics from Cambridge University and an MBA from INSEAD. He is also a Fellow of the Charters Insurance Institute.

Meriel Lenfestey

Meriel brings over two decades of board level experience to Bluefield Solar and was appointed as a non-executive director in April 2019. Ms. Lenfestey founded Flow Interactive in 1997, a London-based Customer Experience Consultancy assisting clients across many sectors embracing digital transformation. Since exiting the business in 2016 she has held a portfolio of non-executive director and advisory roles across Energy, Telecoms, Transport, Infrastructure, Technology, E-gaming, and local charities. She is a non-executive director at International Public Partnerships (FTSE 250), Boku (FTSE AIM), and Ikigal Ventures (FTSE All share). She also holds non-executive director roles at several private companies including Gemserv, Jersy Telecom and Aurigny as well as Art for Guernsey a local charity. She has a MA in Computer Related Design from the Royal College of Art, a Financial Times Non-Executive Director Diploma and is a Fellow of the RSA.

Elizabeth (Libby) Burne

Elizabeth (‘Libby’) Burne has over 20 years’ experience working within the financial services sector, specialising in alternative asset management and was appointed as a non-executive director of the Company in October 2021, is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants with a First-Class Honours degree in Applied Accounting and over twenty years’ experience within the financial services sector across the Channel Islands and Australia.
Prior to becoming a non-executive director Ms. Burne was an audit director at PWC, working in alternative asset management and Insurance, assisting clients with strategic, financial risk and corporate governance matters. Ms. Burne holds a portfolio of non-executive directorships including HarbourVest Global Private Equity Limited (a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index), as well as a number of private companies in the venture capital, real estate and insurance sectors.

Michael Gibbons CBE FEI holds an MA from Downing College, Cambridge, is a Fellow of the Energy Institute, and was awarded an OBE in 2008 and CBE in 2015 for services to regulatory reform. He has held a very wide range of senior appointments in the private and public sectors.
The main part of his career has been in the energy industry, in particular taking senior positions in ICI, Powergen and Elexon, who run central systems in the GB wholesale electricity market, and where he was Chair from 2013-2022. He has also worked on carbon capture and storage at Board level for several developers and became Chair of the Carbon Capture and Storage Association in 2014-2017. He was Chair of the British Committee of the World Energy Council from 2009 to 2014.
He has also served British governments from 2002 as a member of the Better Regulation Task Force and then the Better Regulation Commission, and was appointed the founding Chair of the independent Regulatory Policy Committee from 2009-2017 by the then Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills.
He has extensive experience on other Boards including at ICI and Powergen subsidiaries, an acute NHS Trust, and was Chair of the Hertfordshire Family Mediation Service 2005-2009. He conducted the “Gibbons review” for Government of dispute resolution in the workplace, and has extensively advised the European Commission and the OECD on regulatory and energy issues.

Christopher Waldron

Christopher Waldron was appointed as an independent non-executive director of the company on 1 December 2023. Christopher brings over 35 years’ experience as an investment manager, specialising in fixed income, hedging strategies and alternative investment mandates. Until 2013, Christopher was the Chief Executive Officer of the Edmond de Rothschild Group in the Channel Islands. Prior to joining Edmond de Rothschild in 1999, Christopher held investment management positions with the Bank of Bermuda, the Jardine Matheson Group and Fortis.
From 2014 to 2020 he was a member of the States of Guernsey’s Investment and Bond Sub-Committee, overseeing the management of the island’s c.£3bn investment reserves. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment and is a resident of Guernsey.
Christopher is currently a non-executive chair of Crystal Amber Fund Limited and since 2018, he has been a non-executive chair of UK Mortgages Limited and a non-executive director of JZ Capital Partners Limited.

James Armstrong

James Armstrong is a Founder and Managing Partner at Bluefield Partners LLP, a renewable energy specialist. In 2013, he led the flotation of the Bluefield Solar Income Fund, now a FTSE 250 company and at the time the first investment company focused on solar PV to be listed on a major stock exchange. This fund has continued to provide sector leading results for its investors since IPO. More broadly, at the time of writing, every strategy launched at Bluefield has exceeded initial return targets. Outside of Bluefield, James has worked in renewable energy since 2006 and has been involved in excess of €1.5bn solar and renewable energy focused deals.

Giovanni Terranova

Giovanni Terranova is a Founder and Managing Partner of Bluefield. Giovanni is an energy finance specialist having worked in banking, advisory and private equity since 2000, with a particular focus on energy and renewables since 2005. Giovanni has participated in the funding of c.€8.5 billion of energy transactions globally. Giovanni has served as board member of various solar energy companies in Italy, France, the Netherlands and the UK. Giovanni has presented at several international renewable energy conferences and published research on the solar energy sector in 1998. Giovanni has as MBA from Luiss School of Management, Rome, and an MSc in Power Engineering.

Neil Wood

Neil is a Partner at Bluefield Partners LLP and oversees UK investing, financing, performance and reporting of Bluefield’s solar portfolios and their associated Funds. Since joining Bluefield in 2013, he has been involved in over €800 million of UK solar deals and arranged in excess of €500 million of both short- and long-term 3rd party financing. Neil has responsibility for the Bluefield finance teams’ reporting activity to the Bluefield Solar Income Fund (BSIF.L) board and is part of the senior team responsible for delivering BSIF’s Annual and Interim results. Neil has a BSc in Chemistry from Bristol University, is a Chartered Accountant and has experience in investments, realisations, re-financing and re-structuring.
